In 1923, Russell and Clara Stover began a candy business in their home in Denver, Colorado. The original candy was marketed as "Mrs. Stover's Bungalow Candies. The Stovers established principles that were successful then and are still carefully followed today. The three principles of quality, service and value allow Russell Stover Candies to remain "Only the Finest."

 Lakeridge ranks as Florida's largest premium winery and remains a pioneer in the development of table and sparkling wines from hybrid grapes. Production exceeds 50,000 cases annually including Vintage-dated varietals from hybrids such as Stover, Suwannee and Blanc Du Bois, along with blended and sparkling wines from native Muscadine grapes. Lakeridge wines have won more than 300 awards for excellence in winemaking.

The battle that started the Second Seminole War is commemorated in January each year under the oaks of Dade Battlefield. On December 28, 1835, Seminole Indian warriors ambushed 108 soldiers at this site-only three soldiers survived. Explore the park’s natural beauty along the park’s nature trail, or walk along the Old Fort King Road where Major Dade and his command encountered 180 Seminole Indians.

Walk back in time to 1930s farm life. Pulitzer Prize winning author Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings (The Yearling, Moon Under, Golden Apples and Cross Creek) lived and worked in the tiny community of Cross Creek. Her cracker style home and farm, where she lived for 25 years, has been restored and preserved as it was when she lived here. Visitors may tour the house with a ranger in period costume October through July, Thursday through Sunday five times daily, except Thanksgiving and Christmas. Located in Cross Creek off County Road 325.

The largest artesian spring in the world pumps 550 million gallons of sparkling-clear 99.8% pure water a day - enough to supply the city of New York.
